You may have noticed a new computer in the clubhouse. The computer does not have a
keyboard, you simple touch, you don't have to push hard or punch, the big golf ball in the center
of the screen and follow the directions on the screen. It is so simple to use, even an adult can do
it. Courtesy of Handicap Chairman Chuck Koscielski
Bill Page has resigned his position as the newsletter editor and replaced by Jim Meyer. Any
questions regarding the newsletter should now be directed to Jim. We wish Bill a speedy
recovery and our best wishes. He did a great job with the newsletter and we all miss him.
The upcoming Member/Guest Tournament will offer $2500 in gifts and prizes so get those
entries in before the deadline of July 5th. Don't miss this one. Dave Dreher has a great day
planned for this tourney including a shotgun start.
The Better Ball tourney wound up in a tie with Fred Rhodes and Erich Harrold tying with Greg
Houck and Gary Iwamura. Fred and Erich were declared winners in a card off.
To avoid confusion, do not put multiple tournament entries and one check for all in one
envelope, mark the tourney on the envelope and mail to E.R.M.C. P.O. Box 231880,
Encinitas, CA 92023-1880. More than one entry makes the tournament director's
volunteer job all the harder.
For the Wednesday Sweeps, put your name, handicap and $5 in an envelope at the desk. If your
handicap is zero to 9 you must play from the blue tees. If you are a 10 plus and playing from the
blue tees, mark the envelope accordingly.
BASIC RULES OF GOLF tell us that each competitor should know the rules. In some recent
tournaments, some players have been breaking those rules. It is the responsibility of the other
competing players to "PROTECT THE FIELD!" Do not be afraid to challenge a player who is
breaking those rules. Any questions, contact Dave Balser, 436-6139, our tournament director.
THE OLDSMOBILE FOUR MAN SCRAMBLE WILL BE HELD ON JULY 18TH AND
ENTRIES ARE DUE BY JULY 8TH. ENTRY FEE IS $75 PER PLAYER. THERE WILL
BE 7 TEAMS INVOLVED IN THIS TOURNEY.
The Men's Club will sponsor the better ball winners future entries and will provide each
player with a shirt and hat.
At the recent Board Meeting, Hank Logan and Bill Eblen were nominated to the board
with Bill taking over as secretary and Hank assisting the handicap chairman.
There have been changes in the clubhouse. Dominic has gone to Ranch Bernardo Inn as
head pro. Scott has moved into Dominic's position, Don Hubbard is now Tournament
Director, Noah to Tournament Coordinator and D.R. to outside director. There will be
new faces at the front desk. Get to know the new guys.
