Announcements:

You may have noticed a new computer in the clubhouse. The computer does not have a keyboard, you simple touch, you don't have to push hard or punch, the big golf ball in the center of the screen and follow the directions on the screen. It is so simple to use, even an adult can do it. Courtesy of Handicap Chairman Chuck Koscielski

CONGRATULATIONS TO KEN VAN WIEREN WHO SET A NEW WEDNESDAY SWEEPS single day RECORD.

Here's Ken on # 10

Ken told me that no one is going to beat that score! The gauntlet has been thrown down, so all we need is someone to beat it. Get out on Wednesday and take him at his word. Trust me, he can be beat. Why our tournament director shot a better gross score, a 71.

The course is really coming around. The greens have been punched and now the fairways are being over seeded. Just in time for the monthly BEAT THE PRO.

WE DON'T KNOW WHICH ONE IS THE NEXT VICTIM. BRING HIM ON.

Thanks to Dave for getting the permanent Poinsettia Cup and Club Championship trophies engraved. Both are on display in the pro shop.

Our membership has grown to just under 650 members, an increase from last year's 550. With as many members as we have, there just isn't that many participating in the monthly tournaments and the board wonders. WHY? We've increased the prize money and the trophies, but still we're not getting that many entries. Hey members, are we doing something wrong? GIVE US SOME INPUT SO THAT WE CAN WORK TO IMPROVE THOSE TOURNAMENTS.

WRITE TO US OR GET ON THE COMPUTER AND E-MAIL US OR BETTER STILL, CONTACT THE WEB SITE WITH YOUR COMMENTS.

A Pinehurst tournament is a two man partner event:

It's different. Each man hits his drive, then hit their partner's ball for the second shot. The third shot is played as a better ball, with both players hitting from the f preferred position until the ball is holed.

A flight gross and A flight net; players of any handicap from the blue tees. Average of two indexes to determine handicap in net flight. Prizes for first thru third in gross and first thru fifth in net.

B flight net an C flight net: players with handicaps of 10 or more. B & C players may be on the same team. Average of two indexes to determine handicap. Teams will be separated equally between the two flights. Prizes for first thru fifth in each flight.

The format leads to some interesting golf. And if you've never played in one, get your entry in. It won't be as hot as the long days of summer.

If you have access to the internet, you can pick up the ERMGC website and get the newsletter while you're there.

If you have something you want in the newsletter, please direct your correspondence to Newsletter, P.O. Box 231880, Encinitas, Ca 92023-1880. If you've got a photo you want to see published, send it along.

Again we ask that you try and come out on a Wednesday for the regular sweeps. If you don't know anyone, introduce yourself and let us get to know you. We want to see you on a regular basis.
