The handicap committee routinely reviews the records of each monthly tournament and each weekly Wednesday sweep. Most players make an effort to keep a true handicap index, however, one problem we have spotted is that some players are not correctly adjusting the scores they are entering into the computer. Equitable Stroke Control is designed to limit the effect on your index due to the occasional really bad hole. Limits are set, based on your handicap, for the maximum score you can take on any given hole. You must adjust your score accordingly before entering it into the computer.

The following chart, which also hangs on the bulletin board behind the computer at the men's club table, must be used to guide your score adjustment.

Of course, the adjusted score only applies the score you enter into the computer. You must record your actual score on any tournament score sheets.

Example - You have a 12 handicap at Encinitas Ranch and you shoot a 9 on the 9th hole (par 5), you are required to reduce your score before entering it into the computer by 2 strokes.

Picture this: It's Friday evening, January 25, 2002. You and your three golfing buddies are about to board your own private Schubach Aviation Executive Jet for a quick flight to the CasaBlanca Hotel and Casino in lovely Mesquite, Nevada where Deluxe Accommodations await you. After an evening of Relaxed Dining and maybe a little gambling, just to get the blood flowing, you awake to Breakfast and a spectacular Round of Golf at the 18-hole, 7,011 yard, championship, Cal Olson designed, CasaBlanca Golf Course. When you're done golfing, you grab a quick Bite of Lunch before it is time to re-board your Schubach Aviation Executive Jet for the return flight to Carlsbad. And . . . all of the expenses (except the gambling) have been paid.

With the help of Schubach Aviation and the CasaBlanca Resort, two foursomes in this tournament will win this fabulous trip. That's right! We are sending eight guys to Mesquite. The Low Gross Team and the Low Net Team. In addition, depending on the turnout, there will be regular slate of prizes as well.

The Encinitas Ranch Men's Golf Club (ERMGC) is open to all male applicants, 18 years of age and older. The membership fee includes membership in the Southern California Golf Association (SCGA) and a handicap index. All applicants, NEW and RENEWALS, must fill out this form completely every year. This will be a handicapped stroke play tournament in three flights with a total potential purse of $1,500. This tournament is limited to 72 golfers so sign up early to reserve your spot.
