Your points get added up through out the year regardless of the flight you may have played in for an event or based on your index. The more tournaments you play in the more chances you have to get into the Points Cup Tournament.

12-1/4 Player Touches Ground in Hazard When Searching for Ball Believed to Be Covered by Loose Impediments in
Hazard
Q.A player's ball is believed to be in a bunker covered by leaves. The player probes for the ball with a club which touches the ground in the bunker. What is the ruling?
A.There is no penalty. Rule 12-1 specifically authorizes touching ground in the hazard while probing. Such permission overrides any prohibitions in Rule 13-4.

Beware Toxic Salts
Salts are deadly poison for turf: What do you think is the most serious problem affecting the health and quality of turf? Most people believe that diseases, insects or weeds are the worst offenders, and these pests do indeed cause plant damage. But even more serious threats to turf health come from high soil salts.
Where do the salts come from? A variety of salts, including sodium chloride (table salt) are present in irrigation water. During dry periods, when it is necessary to irrigate heavily, salts build up in the soil. A heavy tain can leach, or move these salts down into the soil, below the plant's root. But if it doesn't rain, the salt levels continue to build.
How salts hurt turf: High salts in the soil literally suck water away from the roots, making it impossible for the plant to obtain water. In addition, sodium salts in the soil cause damage to the soil structure. This can result in poor drainage, low soil oxygen and poor water infiltration-all of which cause even more stress to turf. To add insult to injury, the stress created by high salts makes turf more susceptible to diseases, weeds and insects.
Preventing the problem: The cascading series of events caused by salt build-up is difficult to stop once it gets started. The key is to avoid it from starting through periodic leaching programs where high volumes of irrigation water are applied to the golf course.
Leaching is a no-brainer: Playability may be compromised by wet or soft conditions for a few days following leaching events. But the benefits are enormous. When done on a preventative basis-before turf damage due to salts is serious-turf and soil will become healthier, pest damage and pesticide use will decrease, and the course will ultimately look and play better.
Bottom Line: During periods of low rainfall, turf health and playability are challenged by high temperatures, dry soils and most importantly-by high soil salts.
One of the most effective ways to keep turf healthy during dry times is through leaching programs. This strategy helps to move toxic salts away from growing turf. Although there are some temporary side effects to leaching, the benefits of having healthy turf far outweigh the inconveniences.
Any member that has a special event such as, a hole-in-one, shooting your age, first eagle etc., as part of their golf game, please notify Chuck Koscielski at Happy2bc@aol.com and he will notify SCGA so you can be mentioned in the FORE magazine.
