Two-man teams, 18 holes of stroke play, with the better net score of the partners to count as the team score on each hole. All flights will use handicaps based on June Current Index. The maximum allowable handicap differential between partners is eight strokes. If the higher handicap of partners is more than five strokes greater than the lower handicap, the higher handicap will be reduced. The team with the best NET score total from the BLUE TEES will have the opportunity to represent ERMGC in the SCGA 4-Ball Tournament Qualifier in August.

ERMGC Members:

Please take time for thoughtful consideration of your opportunity to make our July Member-Guest event “extra special” in the history of our Men’s Club.

We need your help to create a fund of donated gifts to award to attendees in our traditional random drawings at the Member-Guest dinner.

In past years, we have been able to purchase prizes and gifts with Men’s Club funds budgeted for this purpose. In the current economic conditions, these funds simply do not exist, and we are looking for club members to assist in maintaining the appeal and value of the total experience for participants in the Member-Guest tournament.

Please help us showcase our club by contributing as you are able to make this a special event. If you can personally contribute a gift or prize to our drawing, please step forward. If you work for a company that might contribute an award, please ask. If you know someone who could contribute, please make the request. We will acknowledge you or the contributor on our website and at the event.

This is your club and my club. This is a personal appeal for generosity and creativity. Right now, I pledge my support as follows:

  1. A wine basket donated at my expense.
  2. A $100 cash contribution toward prizes purchased to award in random drawings.

I invite you to explore your own opportunities to contribute to the prize fund for this premier Men’s Club event. Please respond as you are able. Together, we can elevate the status and create new buzz for our club and the ERMGC Member-Guest event.

For follow up, please email Tournament Chairman Eric Diaz (czneko@gmail.com) or me rbeckman@san.rr.com with your commitments, questions, or ideas.

We are counting on members like you to “give back” in support or our Men’s Club and make this event something special.

In appreciation,
Dick Beckman
ERMGC President

2011 Points Cup

The Points Cup is a year long event, like the Fed EX Cup on the PGA tour. In each of our events, the top 10 players in each flight get points according to the place they finish in. Your points get added up through out the year regardless of the flight you may have played in for an event or based on your index. The more tournaments you play in the more chances you have to get into the Points Cup Tournament.

27-2c/3 Provisional Ball Played from Point Nearer Hole Than Original Ball Because Player Erroneously Thought Original Ball, Which Was Visible, Was Out of Bounds

Q:
A player's ball came to rest 20 yards over a green and beyond a white stake which the player's caddie said was a boundary stake. The player played a provisional ball which came to rest short of the green, but closer to the hole than his original ball. The player played the provisional ball onto the green. At that point, he walked behind the green towards his original ball, which had been visible all along, and discovered that the white stake was not a boundary stake and that his original ball was in bounds. What is the ruling?

A:
The player should have determined the status of his original ball before playing a second stroke with the provisional ball and, since the original ball was not out of bounds, he should have abandoned the provisional ball. When he failed to do so, the second stroke with the provisional ball was a stroke with a wrong ball -- Rule 27-2c.

In match play, the player lost the hole (Rule 15-3a).

In stroke play, he incurred a two-stroke penalty (Rule 15-3b) and was required to hole out with the original ball.
